I am grateful and fortunate to do what I love every day. Storytelling is my passion. As the youngest of six, I had to fight for attention and you had to stand out to be heard. When I became a reporter/anchor, it seemed natural. As a journalist for two decades at CBC News and CTV News, I covered elections on all levels of government. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing history first-hand, the happy, the sad and the tragic. I’ve interviewed newsmakers including Premiers, Prime Ministers, athletes, specialists, those awaiting their fate at the courts and local heroes.
I’m thrilled to share my knowledge gained through years of broadcasting with clients through my media training programs, which focus on effective message delivery. I continue to expand on networks built on as a journalist. My press events are well-attended and clients have received national attention. My team loves to craft stories and we know how newsrooms tick, what makes a good story and how to tell it in a compelling way. We are skilled at empowering stories through videography and social media.
When I’m not working, I’m usually whipping up something in the heart of my home, the kitchen. Food is central to keeping my family connected. I love to read and find carving a space to sit and read or just be is incredibly important. I’m most at peace on my yoga mat or high above rock climbing. I’m most proud of my teenage son, who is vibrant, curious, and spirited. He is my why and my everything. He drives me to be better every day. He and my beagle #sweetgus keep me busy. They, along with meditation, challenge me to stay grounded and grateful.
I am honoured to have been asked to contribute to an Asian Heritage Month celebration exploring the Model Minority and its effect on my story. For me, it was so ingrained in me it charted my trajectory in public relations and as a former journalist. It has also shaped me and my efforts in education, human rights, and anti-racism activism.
The kitchen is the busiest place in my home. It's where my language of love takes hold. This section showcases some of my adventures in cooking.
Date night was taken up a notch and it took us to Sorentino's for a French cooking class. This rich, buttery class was incredible. We were so inspired by this experience we'll be heading to Paris next.
This is the way to #myminime's heart. I couldn't believe how easy it was. We have experimented with pesto, tomato sauce, and three mushroom, horseradish dish inspired by Mindy Kaling.
Cheese, pesto, prosciutto a winning recipe with homemade crust.
Easy conversations flow while you grill and melt cheese on vegetables and your favourite proteins. This is a company favourite and the kids love it too.
